A Commander for the Defense

It would seem that the Bengals have an affinity for Rams leftovers at the moment. I mean that in a nice way believe it or not considering they just came off of a Super Bowl. Cincinnati's Coach Taylor is supposedly interviewing Rams Assistant Coach Aubrey Pleasant. Obviously Pleasant worked with Taylor on the Rams staff so this is another natural pick up for our coaching team. Aubrey would be coming in to fill the Defensive Coordinator job left vacant by the mid season firing of Teryl Austin after that dreadful performance against the Saints.

Pleasant filled the role of Cornerbacks Coach on the LA staff for the last two seasons. He was just as crucial to McVay and the rams as Taylor was so this would be a great hire for the Bengals should it happen. I mean holy shit... Dre Kirkpatrick can use all the help we can give him so bringing in a former DB coach as the Defensive coordinator would do us a solid. Honestly a secondary minded coordinator would not be a bad thing at all with the young talent like Jesse Bates III back there. Especially if we can figure out our linebacking corps. Aubrey will not be the last man interviewed for the gig but just the latest. Only time will tell who grabs the reigns of our suspect defense for the 2019 / 20 season.
