AAF week two has come to a close and we are still hooked. Others may have already written it off after the explosive week one debut but we call them fake football fans. Below we are going to cover the scores and highlights of all the week two action in this Around The Leagues post.

1. Birmingham Iron (Pay the Iron Price) vs Salt Lake City Stallions (12-9)

This low scoring battle was just that...low. Neither team eclipsed 100 yards rushing (Iron 41, Salt Lake 70). Passing was with Birmingham's Perez slinging it for 184 yards while Salt Lake Cities Austin Allen only tossed up 114. The two teams time of possession was almost identical so they both had ample opportunity to score in a game where no turnovers happened. Trent Richardson played a very Trent Richardson like game with that 41 yards averaging only 2.2 yards a carry. He did however power in the final score for a victory. The Iron's top tackler was Beniquez Brown who amassed six solo tackles. Karter Shult had the exact same stat line with six solo tackles but throw two sacks on top of it. Overall the game was eh. These guys are getting their feet underneath them and will hopefully improve with time.

2. Arizona Hotshots (sweet uniforms) vs Memphis Express

Ok...So we will start this by saying Hackenberg is just so bad...so terrible. The Memphis team is just going to have to figure that one out. In this 20-18 rouser of a game the Hotshots came out on top. Christian Hackenberg only threw for 102 yards but had a scrambling touchdown. The Express running back Zach Stacy broke the century mark at 101 yards and one touchdown. Linebacker DeMarquis Gates held his ground with six solo tackles and a fumble recovery and Defensive backs Channing Stribling and Jeremy Cutrer both had interceptions for the Memphis defense as well. On the other side of the ball John Wolford threw up 194 yards and two touchdowns to Tim Cook and once 4TH & CINCY featured Rashad Ross while previously mentioned running back Tim Cook rushed for 74 yards. The Hotshot defense played well in the victory over the Express. Until they figure out their quarterback situation though I do not see success happening for Memphis.

3. San Diego Fleet vs Atlanta Legends (24-12)

IT would seem that Atlanta is going to be on the struggle bus this entire season. Now we are just going off of two weeks of play but they don't seem to have it together. In this 24-12 game The Fleet (badass name) came out as the victor. Fleet quarterback Phillip Nelson threw for 148 yards and one interception. He looked eh. Running back Ja'Quan Gardner hit 100 yards and looked pretty athletic. The Fleet Defense look alright having an interception and two sacks. Leading tacklers Kendall James and Jordan Martin both sat at 4 tackles a piece. Overall though the Fleet looked solid. Atlanta on the other hand just doesn't look like they are all on the same sheet of music. Quarterback Matt Simms threw for 160 which is not bad but their team total for rushing was only 82 yards and that is with three backs touching the ball. They had Carlos Merritt DB grab a pick but not much else to say about Atlanta. They are 0-2 and not looking well.

4. Orlando Apollos vs San Antonio Commanders (37-29)

Alright...These two teams are showing they can light the scoreboard up. They have both proven to be able to march down the field and put the ball into the end zone. Logan Woodside threw 223 yards for the Commanders showing he can ball. San Antonio had 175 rushing yards split between three backs. This offense can play. This game was electric. On the other side of the ball Garret Gilbert tossed up an insane 393 passing yards for the Apollos. 192 of those yards were to receiver Charles Johnson. It is quite early but these may be the teams to watch. This game had us on the edge of our seats yelling at our TVs. A great football experience.
