Former Bengals quarterback (kind of) Christian Hackenberg is behind center this afternoon in the Alliance for American football league for the Memphis Express as they take on the Birmingham Iron. It is currently 9-0 at the half. We had a great showing of football last night as the San Antonio Commanders defeated the San Diego Fleet and the Orlando Apollos absolutely massacred the Atlanta Legend.
"I'm really, really excited and I'm looking forward to building this" Hackenberg stated as he prepped for the season. So far The Iron have what appears to be a slight athletic advantage. Luis Perez is quarterbacking the Birmingham Iron and is looking pretty accurate. Hackman is doing his best but the Express are struggling to get into a rhythm.
Overall the style, pace and speed of the game is probably around a seven or an eight if you call the NFL a ten. Receivers drop balls and players just look a little bit slower but it is still entertaining as hell. No way are we going to complain about the continuation of football after the NFL season. This is a dream come true...
Only time will tell if the current 9-0 game evolves into something more. We will see if Christian can take them to the final whistle and grab a win in their debut game.
