Offensive Spark

With a completely new coaching staff the Cincinnati Bengals are leaning forward into the 2019/20 season. Many fans are still apprehensive in their support and will reserve judgment for that first kickoff. This is generally a smart move. We have a proven track record of just blowing it. Even the years we have a glimpse of hope we just crap ourselves in the first round of the playoffs. Well I am here to force a little optimism down your throat whether you want it or not. Some people call it being a "homer" but I call those who cast that stone shitty fans. Lets jump head first into why the Bengals are going to be a contender this coming season.

Zac Taylor has brought a new energy into the locker room and the players are more than pleased. They in fact are on record as saying that he is really firing them up. We need this, as Marvin often fell flatter than Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign. The main reason he was hired on as our 10th head coach is his expertise on the offensive side of the ball. With a scheme that climbed to the top of the league in terms of points and total yardage. The hire is both a bow to the franchise’s foot print carved out by offensive minds like Paul Brown, Bill Walsh and Sam Wyche, as well as to the current huddle that is waiting for its talent to be tapped with the latest big thing.

Along with Zac taking the reigns as head coach Andy Dalton has three guys in the quarterbacks room coaching him who actually played the damn position. Coach Taylor played at Nebraska, Brian Callahan at UCLA, and Alex Van Pelt was in the league backing up superstars like Drew Bledsoe. Andy is often regarded as the Bengals biggest weakness. Some want to see him make is exit as the starting QB for the organization. There are cries for Coach Taylor to draft a young replacement. This is all milarky. Andy is perfectly serviceable and now has the mentors and a new powerful system to guide him to an impressive season. We without a doubt have needs on the team that surpass the field general.

Not only will this new system and the assistance of three position minded coaches assist Andy next year, but the combination of Tyler Boyd and our savior most seasons, AJ Green will only benefit from this shift as well. It has been stated by analysts that our boys are one of the deadliest combination in football right now and will continue to grow. These two dynamos were ranked over the now former Antonio Brown and Juju Smith-Schuster combination. Boyd had his first 1,000 yard season last year and AJ is well... AJ. A finely tuned Andy in combination with one of the best wide receiving duos in the league... I smell success.

On top of our passing game we still have Mean / Smokin Joe Mixon on the ground taking care of business. With 237 attempts an 1,168 yards on the ground he was a force in the 2018. On top of that he averaged 5 yards a carry. Joe is easily a top 5 running-back and barring injury should have a repeat year if we bolster the line. His electric and patient running style is perfect for our pace of offense. 28 is a beast and we look forward to seeing him crash through the hole game after game.

Bottom line we have done nothing but improve and enhance are already very capable weapons on our offense. Whether we pass or run I do not see a world where we are unsuccessful in the upcoming season. We will always face tough teams in the Steelers and the Ravens and the Browns are on the up and up but I believe we are right on track. No we didn't go out and sign Odel but who cares. We don't need the "sexy pick" this year. Anyone who says we do doesn't understand the game of football. This year is the year we pick that start linebacker or grab a bunch of guys who will fight in the trenches. Keep your quarterbacks and wide receivers, we don't need em!
