Unleash the Beast

After unfounded trade rumors surrounding our guy John Ross the coaching staff has released verbage that they want to unlock his potential. We as a fan base need to hop on board this bullet train of an intent by the staff and support it 100%.

“His speed is rare.” Offensive Coordinator Brian Callahan stated, “Usually a guy is one of two things. Strait line guys are either really fast or really quick and not very fast. He’s both. His quickness jumped off the tape more than anything. His change of direction is really good.”

I cannot agree more. There is some argument that ole Marv was not happy about drafting the kid so he refused to use him as the weapon the new coaching staff sees him for. Ross did battle injury but still had a few moments of shine. He absolutely does have the downfield speed to torch defensive backs and stretch the field for our offense. This Would allow him to catch those deep balls and open up space for AJ and Boyd to continue to bring in balls left and right.

I’m excited about finding a role for him in our offense,” Callahan said. “He can play inside, he can play outside. It’s our job on offense to get the most out of him. It just takes time in this league. Sometimes there are guys that have an impact immediately, but there are other players it takes one, two, three years to make the jump to be professional. I think it’s a great challenge for us and John to make the jump and be a productive part of our system.”

Whatever system the new coaching staff installs, Ross will be used as the weapon he can be.

Seeing Ross take that next step should, in turn, help the Bengals offense to do the same.
